Freedom of Speech

In the United States we, the people, have the right to freedom of speech. It is clearly stated in our constitution as the first amendment. There are many countries around the world where the voice of the people is often silenced or nonexistent. For example, denying the Holocaust is protected as free speech in the US and it is prohibited in Germany and other European countries.The film created by Americans that sparked protests in 20 different countries abused the first amentment, but it was also justified. This right was abused because of the message that it portraying. The insensitivity by the US towards Muslims was very insulting and disrespectful to the people and their culture. This is when a line has to be drawn. However, it is justifiable because we are granted this right even though other countries are not. Although other countries can't speak their minds, we can. Another thing that makes it justifiable is the internet. People now have the ability to put anything they want on the internet. Whether it is taken down later, people are still able to put it on there.
